WELCOME TO THE PAGE OF THE ECO-TOURISM CLUB OF BAAN THALAENORK In 2002 Baan Thalaenork (BTN) welcomed a group of students who came to collect data about the village with a view to establishing a tourist centre here. At that time there was no official homestay scheme but the students were accommodated in the village and no formal charge was made. In 2003 WAR started a new scheme based at WARED entitled 'THE COLLECTIVE CONSERVATION OF BAAN THALAENORK ENVIRONMENT PROJECT'.The initial idea was to establish a homestay operation run by the people in the village. Up to now the efforts have been disparate with 50 participants working in separate groups. We hope this will change in the future. There is much for tourists to see around this region including many beautiful islands such as Kang Kao and the Moo Kho Kam group, Kow Kwai (Buffalo Horn) Bay and the unusual black sand of the beach at BTN. Ofcourse, we would also welcome visitors at our centre and they could explore the village as well. The concept of eco-tourism is based around sustainable development and this is evident in the way of life here. Tourists would be able to observe fishing and crab trapping, take mangrove trips, and experience more of the surrounding environment via diving and trekking expeditions.
